Museum of the Unification

The Union Museum - The museum exposition " Union of Bulgaria, 1885" is placed in the close proximity of the Union Square. It is situated in the building that served the Regional meeting of Eastern Rumelia (an autonomous province of the Ottoman Empire). The building housed the National Library of Plovdiv after the Union of Easren Rumelia with the Bulgarian Principality in 1885. The exposition was created in 1985, in honour of the centenary from the Union. The monument, located on the eponymous square opposite the museum building, was built in the same year. The exposition presents the interesting period of Plovdiv`s history when it was a capital city of Southern Rumelia.
